About Mark

A recognized reformer and champion of individual liberty, State Representative Mark Batinick has spent his time in Springfield fighting to improve Illinois’ jobs climate and strengthen the quality of life for Illinois families.

This year, Representative Batinick was named the Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus. Throughout his tenure serving the 97th Legislative District, Rep. Batinick has been focused on providing property tax relief, making higher education more accessible and affordable for current and future students at Illinois’ public universities, reforming the state’s broken workers compensation laws, honoring Illinois military personnel killed in the line of duty, enacting constitutional changes to rescue Illinois’ pension systems from financial crisis, and implementing reforms to make state government less costly and more accountable to taxpayers.

Representative Batinick earned a B.S. in business education from the University of Illinois in 1992. Acting on his entrepreneurial spirit, Mark pursued the American dream and started his own business.  He has been self-employed ever since. Mark is currently a commercial real estate broker and owner of a home services company. The vast majority of his clients are small business owners. As a result, Mark has directly witnessed the negative effects of Illinois' hostile taxation and regulation policies in recent years.

As a small business owner and consultant, Mark understands how to save money and make organizations run more efficiently. As a citizen, he has exposed waste and inefficiencies of local government bodies. He worked to provide alternative solutions that are not only more cost-effective but also improve government services.

Representative Batinick is currently serving his third term in the Illinois General Assembly representing the 97th District, which includes portions of Oswego, Montgomery, Naperville, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Joliet and Shorewood.

Representative Batinick and his wife, Ellen, reside in Plainfield with their five children.  He is also an active volunteer and supporter of numerous civic and charitable organizations in our community. Mark regularly coaches youth soccer and has also coached basketball.
